The City of San Mateo adopted its 2026–2029 Economic Development Work Plan in December 2025 — a cross-departmental blueprint with quarterly progress tracking to City Council.
Seven core goals: diversify and expand tax revenues; foster a business-friendly environment; support workforce development; increase workforce and affordable housing access; enhance entertainment and cultural offerings; maintain safe, vibrant business districts; and align with the General Plan. Includes local procurement language directing staff to source from local and small businesses where prudent.
